The fifth mosque visited was the Owais Qarni Islamic Centre in Robertsham. The centre resembles a Jamat Khana, however it does offer Muslims 5 times daily salaah, together with Jumma on a Friday, it therefore serves the need of members of the community and has been included.
It is also worth noting that it is the only centre which practices Salaami on a Friday within the Robertsham area. Despite living in the Robertsham area for a while, I never knew this place existed. It was just a chance encounter on a Sunday when I was looking for a some Durban Haleem during Ramadan that I was told to look in this direction but only on Saturdays. When I visited this centre, comments of "Salams, How are You, Where are you from could often be heard. It had a strong family feel to it. Another observation is that Centre is primarily visited by local Indian Muslims and people from the Indian Subcontinent living in the area. The centre is currently operating from a structure which used to be a house, but which has been renovated to accomodate Salaah. Every Saturday during Ramadaan, Haleem is distributed free to all visitors. Another important note is that the centre is currently collecting funds and preparing to convert the structure currently occupied into a fully fledged mosque in the years to come.
