The last Mosque visited on this journey was the 6th Avenue Mosque in Mayfair. Again, naughty me, this was the first time I had ever visited this Mosque despite regularly passing by. This Mosque was recently built and follows the traditional Mosque structure of a dome and minaret.
It is also very simply furnished compared to the other Mosques visited on this journey. When I first saw this Mosque, a few people indicated to me that this is a Salafi Mosque. How true this and what this fully means is, I have no idea, but the Namaaz I read had the same start and end as in any other Mosque. The people I spoke to at the Mosque also seemed uncertain of what my question was in relation to this Salafi thing. "Brother this is the House of Allah". I visited this Mosque during Zohr time, but what struck me at first was that majority of the people at Salaah were North African with barely any local Indian Muslims. What also surprised me was the humility of the people, coming up to me shaking my hands, what is your name, where are you from. The first Mosque visited started off with this warmth and what was cool was it ended off on the same note with warmth and friendship.
